Vehicles Affected: Approximately 14,900 model-year 2019-20 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks equipped with Rugger Liner hard, tri-fold tonneau covers sold as accessories
The Problem: The attachment system may not properly secure the cover to the pickup bed, which could lead to separation and the cover becoming a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the tonneau rails and install improved attachments for free.
What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet and GMC manufacturer GM will begin notifying owners June 1. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-630-2438, GMC at 800-462-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
