Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1,700 model-year 2012-18 Lamborghini Aventador coupe and roadster sports cars
The Problem: The engine may stall unexpectedly in certain driving conditions, such as when the accelerator pedal is released below 2,000 rpm while the transmission is automatically downshifting to a lower gear, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will install updated engine software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Lamborghini will begin notifying owners Aug. 3. Owners can call the automaker at 866-681-6276, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
