Our biggest pickup truck news of the week is one you may have seen here on or on sister site PickupTrucks.com: the release of our 2019 American-Made Index, which highlights the most American vehicles. Topping the list is a name that truck shoppers haven’t necessarily taken to in sales numbers and may be surprised to find wallops their own rig in domesticity — step forward, Honda Ridgeline!

There’s a whole lot more that goes into the AMI than merely, “How many flagpoles for my Stars and Stripes can it store in the bed?” To get the details on what the AMI is all about — and how, exactly, the Ridgeline wound up ranked highest among all pickups — follow the link below.

And there’s more truck news where that came from …

Trouble-Free Titan

Similarly dispiriting news for the Detroit Three can be found in J.D. Power’s latest Initial Quality Study, but this time the surprise comes from Nissan, where the Titan was designated as the most trouble-free new truck on the market after 90 days of ownership. The survey measures problems per 100 vehicles as reported by owners, and 257 vehicles completed the results.

Tow, Tow, Tow Your Boat (With the Silverado HD)

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for us to report regarding U.S. trucks, however. Good news came in the form of our First Drives of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 in Oregon. It’s a big year for the heavy-duty pickup field and Chevrolet isn’t messing about with its redesigns. With a slow rollout scheduled for later this year, there’s much to discuss beyond the highlight of how easy towing just got.

Baby Drivin’ With the Silverado 1500 Duramax

Another highlight for the Bow-Tie brand this week came in the form of our test of the light-duty 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine, which finally arrives on the 2020 Silverado 1500 after development of the oil-burner compression engine took a little longer than planned. The good news is that the wait was worth it: With tons of torque as needed and superlative fuel economy, you’ll want to investigate the option.

What else might you have missed? Worry not, we have all the links assembled right here, including ones leading to news about a makeshift Tesla truck, our review of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Super Duty XL and an article about the 2019 Ford Ranger’s tattletale feature that rats out rear-seat passengers not wearing the seat belts.
