The 2019 BMW X7 is everything a big SUV ought to be — spacious, and full of modern technology and style. This week, the luxury X7 took a run at our reigning reviews champ, the 2020 Kia Telluride. And although it couldn’t see it through to a victory (landing instead at No. 4 on our list), you definitely shouldn’t count it out if you’re in the market for a three-row SUV.

reviewer Brian Wong said that while the X7 may be late to the large-SUV game, it’s got plenty to offer in terms of options — notably its semi-autonomous driving system that helps ease your gridlock fatigue.

“As someone who deals with traffic on a regular basis living in Los Angeles, Extended Traffic Jam Assistant piqued my interest,” Wong writes. “The system works in traffic on the highway at speeds under 37 mph, using a camera in the instrument panel to make sure the driver is watching the road. As long as you don’t look away, the X7 will basically pilot itself; there’s no need to put your hands on the steering wheel.”

It’s not just about the safety and tech in this SUV, however. Wong said it also has a classy interior with luxe leather options that extend all the way back to the roomy third row, an oft-neglected aspect in most SUVs but not the X7.

At No. 3 is our First Drive of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, and at No. 4 is our mud-filled review of the 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Rounding out the list is our drag-strip test of the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
